Google Drive (formerly known as Google Docs) offers a whole host of word processing, data collecting, presentation, and artistic tools that are perfect for the digital educator. In my own digital classroom I use at least one and sometimes several of the different Google products each day to make communication of concepts with my students easier, quicker, and more engaging. By coupling that with a personal website such as a wiki or a blog I can make the information from my class available 24/7 to not only my students, but also to their parents and my administrators.

Getting Started
It all starts with the button in the top left-hand corner labeled CREATE. By pressing that button you have the option to create a word processing document, online slideshow presentation, spreadsheet, form that will send data to a spreadsheet, or drawing.

Uploading
The arrow to the right gives you the option to upload a document or entire file from your own hard drive that can be edited and shared online. Sometimes there are slight formatting issues (change of font, or line spacing, etc) that need to be addressed after you upload your document but for the most part it works very well.

Sharing and Collaborating
One of the biggest strengths of working with Google Drive is the ability to share a document and work on it collaboratively. Whether you are working with a colleague, or having students use Google Drive to complete a group project, multiple users can edit the various documents at the same time. Collaborators will see changes to the document in real time.
Also, Google Drive allows you to work on any computer that has access to the internet and a web browser. Just sign in to your Google account at http://drive.google.com and you'll have immediate access to all of your content.
